Past Socks, Present Socks, Future Socks

This post is all about Socks!

First, I bring you the socks I've worked on over the past few months. I didn't work on these consistently, but every now and then I would pick them up and knit a little. Eventually I ended up with a pair.

These are pretty standard stockinette socks. I really don't use a specific pattern for this kind of basic sock style. The yarn is Socks that Rock (I believe it's mediumweight) in the colorway Rare Gem. The best way to describe the Rare Gems colorway is that each skein is unique and unexpected. They aren't part of a set colorway, but just sort of happened during the process of dyeing the yarn. I'm pretty happy with this skein and these colors. I like how the colors striped more than they pooled.

The socks I'm working on right now are also in Socks That Rock. This was the first shipment I received as part of the 2007 Rockin Sock Club. The colorway is Monsoon, and here is a photo of the yarn still in the skein.

And here is the toe from the pattern included with the socks, "Inside Out".

This is the first time I've started knitting a sock from the toe up. It's also the first time I've knit a garter stitch toe. So far, I'm really enjoying this sock. I'm actually a good bit into the foot of the sock now and I'll try to post an update of the sock next week.

Lastly, I have a photo of the yarn I've selected for my Sockapalooza 4 socks. These are the socks I'll be starting in the near future, just as soon as I've selected a pattern.

This is Silkie Socks that Rock yarn from Blue Moon Fiber Arts. The colorway is Midsummers Night. The fiber content is 81% superwash merino wool and 19% silk. Now I just have to find the perfect pattern to go with it!

Any suggestions?

That color of Silkie is beautiful--can't wait to see how it knits up! I don't have a good pattern suggestion, though--maybe something relatively simple, that doesn't compete with the g-o-r-g-e-o-u-s yarn?

How is the Silkie? Does it feel just absolutely wonderful? I thought about it for my sock pal, but ended up going with something different, much to my surprise.

Past, Present, and Future are all Rockin'. I really like how the garter stitch toe is blending the colors of the yarn.

I love the blues of the Silkie. I'll be watching to see how it knits up!
